		<description>the churches can call for a special day of prayer although, as you say, that should be something done a bit more often. this ruling does not say, as some have mis-interpreted, that folks are not allowed to pray their hearts out..just that the government shouldn't be in the business of decreeing prayer days. i'm fine with that.</description>

I would go further and say that the superficial endorsement of government and other secular institutions actually diminish the value of Christian faith.  When any of these institution projects a public image of being aligned with the Christian faith yet commits questionable or diametrically un-Christian acts, it lowers the bar for acceptable Christian behavior on a national (and even international) scale.</description>
