Let’s Have A Home-School Tea Party
Posted on 09.03.09 by K. Daniel Glover @ 10:27 pm

The Education Department’s plan to indoctrinate children into the “Cult of Obama” on the first day of school next week has triggered another spontaneous outburst of citizen protest, and the Internet is the tool of choice. Two new Web sites were unveiled today:

  • Keep Our Kids Home. Parents can sign a petition to the White House that says, “I hereby state that if my child’s school elects to broadcast this address, I will keep my child at home on September 8th.” They also can ask C-SPAN not to air the event — a bizarre request in light of how much more newsworthy Obama’s address is thanks to sites like Keep Our Kids Home.
  • Hall Pass On That. This Web site is the latest in a string of online projects from the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition. The site suggest four steps that parents can take to protest Obama’s speech, including asking that their children be excused. Hall Pass On That also offers a parents-oriented rewrite of the lesson plan the Education Department drafted for teachers to use during and after Obama’s speech.

Both ideas are creative but counterproductive. The best response to Obama’s attempt to give your children marching orders is easy, parents: Take them out of public schools and teach them yourself.

Then in the future, we can all celebrate Sept. 8, 2009, as “the first day of home-schooling for millions of American children.”
