I have always identified myself as a redneck and I'm a first generation American born and raised in NY. I grew up with a sense of hard work, fairness and self. sufficiently. "Redneckness" is a state of mind, not a function of geography. Those who insist on portraying us as some misinformed hicks whose only concerns are God and guns and hating the "other" are guilty of the kind of ignorance they mistakenly ascribe to us everytime they open their misinformed mouths.
