I can’t stomach people who look down their noses at rednecks, but that doesn’t mean we rednecks don’t appreciate our eccentricities.

No one appreciates them more, or understands them better, than Jeff Foxworthy. He knows how to laugh at himself, his family and our extended family of all redneck-kind.

While he may be speaking about rednecks, or the “glorious absence of sophistication,” chances are that every person there sees a friend or family member in the humor — maybe even himself/herself. “For me, my favorite laugh is when you see people kind of nudge someone or they turn to their spouse and go, ‘I’ve done that’ or ‘I’ve said that.’”

He learned early on from fellow comics Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld that his niche needed to be what he laughed at. Thus, a redneck revolution began.

I’m glad he has made a 25-year career of telling the world about rednecks. It gives me hope.
