Sometimes I have little to say about topics in the news (I know, hard to believe) yet still want to say something. I’m starting this recurring feature, much like the “Blog Bits” I used to write for Beltway Blogroll, to satisfy those urges. Each “Redneck Rants” post will feature short items and links.
Here is my first round of rants:
- This tirade by CNN’s Rick Sanchez is over the top, especially the dripping sarcasm about “Joe The Plumber’s” legal name, but Joe brought the contempt on himself with his equally over-the-top and sweeping rant against war-reporting. hiring “Joe The Journalist” to cover a war was a horrible idea.
- Associated Press, the wire service that sets the style rules for newspapers across America, is “thinking outside the box” in how to identify U.S. presidents. I live outside the Beltway and think inside the box, so I say it’s a nonsensical move. I’ll stick with “President Obama.”
- Just naming a child after Adolph Hitler shouldn’t be grounds for social workers to remove kids from a home. But it’s not a stretch for me to suspect that parents who idolize one of mankind’s most notorious, hateful and murderous dictators might have done something to their children that warranted a legal intervention in their home.
