Our next president is the inspiration for French soda. His aura is making appearances in symphonies across America. His glorious name soon may grace the highest peak in Antigua and already is the subject of honor by an elementary school in New York.
Obama is trying to profit from his own celebrity status by selling lapel pins and t-shirts. His campaign is even running a raffle to win tickets to the inauguration. I almost had a conniption when I visited the local Barnes & Noble and saw two worshipful children’s books about Obama. And now QVC is coming to Washington to honor him. It’s going to be a long couple of weeks until Inauguration Day. I hope the presidential honeymoon ends soon so we can move beyond the Obama idolatry of the past two years. UPDATE: Obama gets his day in the comic books, too, with Spider-Man saving the day. Filed under: Business and Culture and News & Politics and People Comments:

Jealous much?

Yep, ya got me. I’m jealous that:
– I don’t have a mountain or an inner-city school named after me.
– My image isn’t engraved on plates.
– QVC won’t relocate to sell knick-knacks when I get a new job.
– And no one has written a book about Danny Glover or celebrated the name in symphony (oh, wait, I’ll bet they have).
OK, I’m being sarcastic. But as a coin collector, I must admit I’d buy a coin with my image on it.
